Market Tuning Group – what’s in a name?

I love music, listening and playing.

I play a few instruments – guitar, ukulele, bass, and a bit of lap steel. I also play in a few bands – Americana with a touch of Bluegrass, Cajun, Western Swing, Old Time Country.

When I was thinking of a name for my business, tuning quickly came to mind. When instruments are tuned together, they sound good. When a radio is tuned to the right station, you get your favorite music.

I have faith in people. People inside companies have the know-how to meet challenges. Consultants like me aren’t “answer people.” We’re a practiced set of ears and eyes that facilitate your own discovery process.

When I was a W-2 employee I experienced great and crummy experiences with consultants. The great moved the needle. The others…no comment.

The key to a productive consulting engagement is consultants that listen well, can show you what they’ve heard, and help your team through forest to the clearing. It also requires a hiring company that wants to engage regularly and transparently with the consultants. That formula builds relationships and sharing that creates real results.

Most companies benefit from a strategic tune up, not a radical “change to another radio station” kinda deal. Cutting through the static to a clear signal is sometimes a small move, but it makes all the difference between muffled noise and great music.

I’d enjoy speaking with you and learn how we can help tune your business to success.
